SUMMER STAGES DANCE AND THE INSTITUTE OF CONTEMPORARY ART/BOSTON
Commissioned by Summer Stages Dance at Concord Academy and co-presented with the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston, (iseea) was was made in direct response to specific sites of the ICA building.
The piece was the result of three weeks of choreographic research and rehearsal, and was created to be seen as both a live/physical art installation and temporal performance event.
Beginning near the entrance of the museum and ending in front of the grandstand beneath the cantilever, the outdoor performance wrapped around the exterior of the building, responding to the design of the new ICA by intimately exploring the visual rhythms and patterns of the architecture. The work is divided into seven sections and was seen by close to 2,000 people over two days (6 performances in total).
The cast of this work was comprised of 22 Boston area dancers from approximately eight different dance companies.
Named by the Boston Globe, Ten Best Dance Works of 2007
